Roger Buksa: Piano

 

Roger Buksa AVCM, Diploma in Music (VCM/Camosun), B.Mus., B.Ed., University of Victoria

Roger is currently on faculty at the Victoria Conservatory of Music.  He studied with Eva Kinderman, Winifred Scott Wood, Dr. Robin Wood; jazz with George Essihos and Hugh Fraser; master classes with György Sébok. He took summer studies at the Oxford Summer School with Anton Kuerti.  Mr. Buksa is an active vocal and instrumental accompanist, soloist, adjudicator, VCM examiner, who is also an experienced jazz musician. His students have received numerous awards at the Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival and from VCM Examinations; several have been recommended to or taken prizes in regional and national competitions.

 

 

 

 

Jeremy van Dieman: Strings

Jeremy van Dieman holds a B.A. in Music (Honors) from Thayer Conservatory of Atlantic Union College in S. Lancaster, Massachusetts and a MMus in Violin Performance from the University of Calgary in Calgary, Alberta. His principle teachers have been Virginia-Gene Rittenhouse, Edmond Agopian, Ranald Shean, Charles Davis, and Leroy Peterson.

Jeremy has performed as a violinist in 27 countries on 5 continents. He has performed as a soloist at the Aegean Festival in Greece, and the Salzburg Festival in Austria. He has participated as a 1st violinist in the chamber music of British composer, John Rutter, in Windsor Castle, England, under the baton of John Rutter. He participated in the world premiere of �Vision of the Apocalypse�, a large-scale oratorio composed by his teacher and mentor, Virginia-Gene Rittenhouse, in Carnegie Hall, New York. Jeremy has performed as a soloist for a number of dignitaries, including U.S. President Gerald Ford, U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, and Polish Communist Party Leader Edward Gierek, in Warsaw, Poland; Archbishop Felixberto Camacho Flores in Agana, Guam; and Her Royal Highness, Princess Siriwanwareenareerat (�Glorious Light�) of Thailand.

�Jeremy has twice directed the Advanced String Institute of the Alberta Suzuki String Institute in Calgary, and is currently Director of Junior Strings at the Conservatory of Mount Royal University in Calgary. He has performed with a number of local and regional ensembles including Calgary Opera, Red Deer Symphony, Kootenay Symphony, Okanagan Symphony, and Kamloops Symphony. Jeremy has adjudicated in music festivals throughout Alberta, and will be adjudicating in B.C. in 2011. He is listed in Who�s Who in American Colleges and Universities, Montclair�s Who�s Who in North America, and is a member of Alberta Registered Music Teachers� Association and Canadian Music Festival Adjudicators� Association. Jeremy is an Examiner with the College of Examiners of RCM Examinations in Toronto.
